Next up in the employee spotlight is Callum Pease.
How long have you worked at Walpole Partnership?
It’ll be one year this November.
What’s your role at Walpole Partnership?
I’m a Consultant at Walpole Partnership, specialising in CPQ and billing solution implementations. I work closely with customers to understand their unique business requirements and identify how CPQ and or billing solutions can deliver the greatest value. I’ve also carried out configuration work across several of the systems we support.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
My career aspirations changed quite a lot while I was growing up, but they were usually focused on either technology or aviation.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Professionally, my greatest achievement was delivering a large-scale, cross-platform architecture integration using AWS Graviton (ARM64) alongside Intel and AMD-based systems. It was a fun technical challenge and a successful proof of concept for running services more cost-effectively at scale.
What can you be found doing in your spare time?
Working on personal technology projects, helping people solve technical problems, fixing my own or my friends’ cars, and gaming.
What one skill would you love to have or learn?
I’d love to become fluent in other languages. I’m currently attempting to learn one, although it’s still a work in progress.
If you could time travel, where would you go?
Going backwards, I’d probably travel to 1969. It was an extraordinary year: Concorde and the Boeing 747 had their first test flights, the Harrier entered RAF service, humans landed on the Moon, and the first message was sent over ARPANET. Going forwards, I’d like to see whether and when practical quantum computing is achieved, and what effects it has on humanity.
What one thing really annoys you?
People who refuse to learn how to use technology. There’s a big difference between genuinely struggling to understand something and simply being unwilling to learn.
What is your favourite film of all time?
It’s hard to pick from but I’d probably say Heat. It has some absolutely brilliant lines and great acting.
Sweet or savoury?
I’d probably lean towards sweet, although it really depends on the situation. That said, it’s hard to beat a cold, sweet treat.
